Discourse: The Scientist and The Forger

21 Albemarle Street , London, W1S 4BS

Description

Over the last few decades, the art world has faced a troubling rise in forged paintings. In response, scientific techniques for detecting these forgeries have become more sophisticated and effective. We are thrilled to offer you the unique opportunity to join  Professor Jehane Ragai in delving into the ongoing battle between scientists and forgers, revealing the leading-edge and traditional methods used to uncover art deceptions. Exploring notorious cases, including the Beltracchi, Chagall, Pollock, and Rothko affairs, Jehane will emphasise the importance of using the right tools and techniques to guarantee authenticity. This Discourse will discuss the motivations behind the most egregious art deceptions. It will also shed light on why discovering a work of art is a forgery dramatically changes our perception of it.
