Description

Nok Cultural Ensemble at Hootananny Brixton

Led by the endlessly inventive Edward Wakili-Hick (aka Eddie Hick), Nok Cultural Ensemble is a rhythmic force like no other. You may know Wakili-Hick from his work with Sons of Kemet, Nubya Garcia, or from leading the legendary Steam Down sessions — but NOK is a different beast entirely.

Rooted in a four-piece drum circle and powered by African percussion, electronics, and deep diasporic grooves, NOK connects ancestral sounds with future rhythms — from nyabinghi to grime, baião to dub. Featuring collaborators like Mo Kolours, Wonky Logic, and members of Kokoroko, this is music that defies genre and moves bodies.
